Schedule reserve time / buffer time in projects

Build in buffers and minimise schedule and cost risks

The minimum project duration is determined by the “critical path”. This is the path through your project whose tasks are interdependent in time and whose tasks have no time buffer. The critical path is therefore the longest path through your project; it connects the successive tasks with the longest duration in each case.

If a task on this critical path is delayed, this delays the entire project. If an activity on a non-critical path is delayed, it has no effect on the total duration of the project.

So calculating the critical path is an important part of your project planning. Only if you know the critical path can you minimise schedule and cost risks through the intelligent use and management of reserve time (buffer).

Rillsoft Cloud supports you here by calculating, displaying and highlighting the critical path.
