New in Rillsoft Project 10

Rillsoft Project 10 is the new technical generation of the planning client you use to work with Rillsoft Cloud. The release modernizes the foundation for scheduling, resource planning and capacity planning and improves the interaction with Rillsoft Integration Server – the server that Rillsoft operates for your tenant in the cloud.

One key focus is reducing technical debt. This makes the software easier to maintain, easier to integrate and more robust for future extensions.

What’s new at a glance

  • More modern technical foundation: compiler toolset upgraded from v120 to v143.
  • Better integration: interfaces modernized from SOAP to REST.
  • Secure login: JWT authentication (JSON Web Token).
  • Stronger resource analysis: multidimensional evaluations for people, roles, teams, projects and project attributes.
  • Better handling of large portfolios: search and time filters in the “Open project” dialog with Rillsoft Integration Server.
  • AI interface: version 10 includes an MCP server that lets an AI assistant work with your cloud projects.

REST, JWT and a modern technical foundation

Organizations that plan centrally for years need more than scheduling: central storage, user management, integration into existing IT landscapes and reliable data for portfolio decisions. In Rillsoft Cloud, the hosted Rillsoft Integration Server takes care of these tasks.

Version 10 provides a more modern foundation for this. Moving the interfaces to REST makes integrations easier, and login via JWT (JSON Web Token) supports modern and secure authentication. The upgrade to a current compiler toolset reduces legacy burden in the product base and supports further software development.

Multidimensional resource analysis

Resource analysis becomes more flexible. In addition to the previous one-dimensional resource structure, 2D, 3D and 4D structures are now available. In the “Personnel” portfolio view, combinations of several attributes can be displayed, for example:

  • Person
  • Role
  • Team
  • Project
  • Project category
  • Project status
  • Project customer

This view helps identify resource bottlenecks, team structures, project workloads and portfolio relationships more clearly – especially in multi-project management with many parallel projects.

Resource pool: flexible table sorting

Tables in the resource pool can now be sorted freely. This includes people, roles, teams, projects, categories, statuses and customers. Planners and resource managers keep the overview even with many master data records and large portfolios.

Set activities up to a reference date to “completed”

Activities up to a defined reference date can be set to “completed” in one step. This helps when status data must be cleaned up, updated or prepared regularly for reporting.

Search and time filters when opening projects

In combination with Rillsoft Integration Server – and therefore in Rillsoft Cloud – the “Open project” dialog offers additional filters:

  • Search filter: searches all projects in all folders.
  • Time filter: narrows down the selection by time period.
  • Result-oriented folder tree: shows only folders with matches and their parent folders.

The list initially shows the entries from the first visible result folder. Change the folder to view matches from other folders.

Who benefits most from Rillsoft Project 10?

Version 10 is aimed at organizations that plan with a central database and want to evaluate several projects, teams or resource pools together. Typical use cases:

  • multi-project management and portfolio planning
  • capacity planning
  • resource planning by roles, teams and people
  • central storage on Rillsoft Integration Server in Rillsoft Cloud
  • technical integration into existing IT environments

The features of version 9 – such as shift planning, customers or summary projects – are now listed in the respective feature areas of the cloud features and on the home page.

Frequently asked questions

What is Rillsoft Project 10?

It is the new technical generation of the Rillsoft planning software for resource planning, capacity planning and multi-project management. With Rillsoft Cloud, you work in this planning client, while your data is stored on the Integration Server hosted by Rillsoft.

Who is Rillsoft Project 10 best suited for?

Mid-sized industrial companies and organizations that plan several parallel projects with limited resources. Typical users are project managers, resource managers and the PMO.

How is Rillsoft Project different from task management tools?

The software is not focused on simple task management or general team collaboration. It plans realistically with resources, roles, qualifications, capacities and cross-project bottlenecks.

Why are REST and JWT important in Rillsoft Project 10?

REST interfaces make technical integration into existing IT environments easier, and JWT authentication supports modern and secure login. Both improve future-readiness and the work with the Integration Server.

What are the benefits of multidimensional resource analysis?

It evaluates resource bottlenecks, roles, teams, projects, statuses and customers together. This gives you a clearer view of capacities and workloads across several parallel projects.
